Who Am I?

Someone new asked who are you?
Tell me more about you.
This question set me thinking,
More like deep data linking.

I have varied identities,
And all are my realities.
There’s not one me,
But many in me.

Working from home has further complicated this equation,
Mishmash of tasks, duties and relations,
Sometimes within minutes I have to change roles,
And report with precision like someone on parole.

From work meetings to household chores,
The list miraculously grows evermore,
Everyday seems to be a delicate game of juggle,
I wonder if you also feel this struggle.

Mindset shift from a work problem to one at home,
Makes me feel going against human genome.
Our minds work best when we focus,
Not when we keep shifting our locus.

So to who are you?
Multiple answers are true.
A mother, a daughter, a writer, a sister,
So many identities are in one me, mister.

Which one would you like to meet?
Each is unique-some a bit more sweet.

Vacation days

I remember those highly awaited vacation days,
Respite from school work and its ways.
Days to only laze and play.
Time of precious summer holidays!

Days when the mind at its own pace could drift,
Free of home work, worries and school yard rift.

New thoughts and ideas to unfold,
When regular life was put on hold,
A rested mind-vibrant, positive and bold,
Could shed old patterns and to fresh ideas be sold.

Visit to a new vista or place,
Where clock seems to move at a slower pace.
Not only a destination to see sights and sounds in fresh space.
But to appreciate all of life's gift(s), and the lace.

A few decades have flown by,
But, summer still brings nostalgia of days gone by,

Long bicycle rides, lazy afternoons, sweet mangoes and real talks with friends,
Now as I lead life with new trends,
And see children chat more with online friends,
And consume media without an end,

I revisit my summer holidays in my memories,
And recall those times with sweet poetic summaries.

Knock a door, Ring a Bell!

Knock a door, ring a bell.
Open your shell.
Life’s sojourn is easier when you share.
Find and seek souls that care.

Beyond frivolities and niceties
Share true concerns, above trivialities.
No life is untouched by tragedies.
Sharing concerns help relieve maladies.

Time with friends can be a therapy,
Perspectives help us gain empathy.
Path of life is easier without disdain.
Everyone can give and gain.

We are on this journey together,
Share your cares when you gather.

Connections are precious, above all.
Sharing turns big sorrows- small.
Both carer and cared gain,
Be a giver and a taker without restrain.

Reach out and extend a hand.
Don’t just passively stand.
Help someone with their burden and bother.
Jointly make the pains smother.

Bringing joy to another
Takes us further.

Inner Chatter

Our silent yet strong inner chatter,
Thousands of thoughts from near and scatter.
Many of which don’t really matter,
Can make the brain a tatter.
I can empathize and understand,
When someone claims, “I am my best friend.”
Self suggestion’s a great tool to repair and mend,
Large wounds and small bend.
Pausing negativity can help redirect energies to positive shore,
Discern what the brain shouldn’t store,
Separate facts from feelings galore,
And with so, so much more.
A true friend helps show myriad perspective,
On our own, we can get repetitive,
Mind flourishes with varied elective,
And life’s happier on accepting eclectic.
Self help is vital to reach some ends,
Time alone and together can beautifully blend,
Complementing the two as a practice to trend,
Makes life richer without pretense and pretend.

Share and Care

Knock a door, ring a bell,
Open your shell.

Life’s sojourn is easier when we share,
Find and seek souls that care.
We are on this life’s journey together,

Your Six and My Nine

You might see a six, when I see a nine,
Should this be a cause to draw a line?
Perspectives can differ between yours and mine,
Life offers a smorgasbord to wine and dine.

Entertaining varied ideas help us grow,
Opening doors to new views and vistas bring a fresh glow.

Likes and dislikes, options and opinions can vary,
But mirrors too can soon get scary.

Our life experiences shape our thinking,
Upbringing, education, values and conditioning,
Play a role and have a strong linking,
But, our differences don’t have to be stinking.

It is tough to entertain dissidence,
Easier to practice indifference or reticence.
Yet, life is richer approached with an open mind,
Its not tough to think distinct, yet remain kind.

Every individual’s life journey is unique,
Understanding involves giving up critique.

Your nine and my six,
Both can co exist in life’s mix.

Marriage

Some say a marriage is all about compromise,
Successful ones require a lot of sacrifice.
How is success defined and at what price?
Is there a meter to measure or a number on a dice?

No easy escapes around these queries,
That have been ongoing for centuries.
Like an individual, each union is unique in degrees.
Each couple surviving or thriving finds their potpourri.

No one principle or preamble works for all,
Living, working and nurturing together are a tough call.
Though one of the oldest institutions of human wherewithal,
Yet, not without its perils and pitfalls.

Is I to be surrendered on this altar of we,
In this union is there a place for me?
In an us, one can never forget me,
Only with a happy me, can there be a happy we.

Love

Some will like and love you without reason,
Revere you in every season.
Some, you will like or love ardently,
And cherish or pine for fervently.

Certain affections will find a return,
Others might flow silently without mutual burn.

In seeking a cause for singular or shared affection,
For some you will find a natural traction.
With others it might begin with common interests and likes,
That helps bridge all barriers and dikes.

We may pay premium on associations of long time,
Relations that have stood test of times-sweet and lime.
Remained unchanged in periods of talks and mime,
And thus emerged special and sublime.

To love and be loved in equal measure,
Is a rare, yet a sacred treasure.

But if equality in emotions is not to be,
To love more, brings greater glee.
Though feelings are unquantifiable,
Heart knows what’s justifiable.
