Thanks for this life,
For all that has been rife,
Thanks for the lessons,
Without them, I would not be this person.

Feeling gratitude is not tough,
Once we look beyond the rough.
Roses too come with thorn,
Challenges in life are to be borne,

Some days will be fast, others-slow,
Some bring contentment, others not so.
Life teaches to take all in stride,
And stand tall in high and low tide.

Life is a miracle,
Cherish it as a spectacle,
Experiences are to savor,
Like foods with different flavor.

Judgements incite unrest,
Abstaining works best,
Live and let live is the way,
Leading to peace, harmony and hay.

You gave me faculty.
Bestowed me with ability.
Showered me with agility and hopefully humility.
Never doubted your existence,
Have time and again experienced your benevolence.
In happiness, despair and despondence,
You have blessed with grace and radiance.
You have helped me persevere,
Look, listen, learn and revere.
You were there to guide and steer.
Whenever life felt difficult to bear.
I don’t seek you in a church, mosque or temple,
Your presence all around is ample.
I see you in tree, shrub, bird and sea,
In kindness, cheer, care and camaraderie.
I hear you in a bird’s chirp and song,
In miracles-weak and strong.
In days -short and long.
While not judging- right from wrong.

Pure, unadulterated silence of early morning is mesmerizing.
The quiet all around is energizing.

My prayers are uninterrupted.
Observations of my surroundings-undisrupted
I can feel more keenly.
Sip my chai serenely.

Sun will soon rise without a din.
Sounds and sights of the day will begin.
Chirps of birds will fill the air.
And morning will be announced with flair.

Soon, my home too will wake.
One by one, the members will rise and shake.
Quiet kitchen will stir and take,
A new avatar- a fresh make.

Appetizing aroma will announce a bake.
My gals might wonder- is it muffin, bread or pancake.
Morning tea will flow.
Several times in a row.

Outside, an early riser might mow.
Another one may tow or stow.

Humdrum of the day will start.
Nothing new, yet an art.
To feel and appreciate with a full heart
Gratitude towards life-gifts and darts.

Poetic Path

An year back I went on a travel,
A poetic path full of words gravel.
Some ideas to unfurl and unravel,
A desire to channel and thoughts ravel.
Never did I think an year will pass,
And I will so much affection amass,
Friends and family’s compliments will surpass,
All expectations of an amateur lass.
My thanks can never fully surmise or suffice,
Or pay you back at any price,
For so much love and kindness sent via varied device,
You have been super generous and nice.
My small word of gratitude,
Is felt with the widest latitude.
And a very humble and heartfelt attitude,
Thanks for indulging my lay aptitude!

With head bowed and folded hands,
What should I ask the lord of all lands?
Foremost, my gratitude for all your blessings from beginning to encore,
Thanks for your grace, felt beyond story and lore.

Before I ask and plead for more,
Your benevolence is my life’s core.

May I forever remain grateful,
Stay where I can be useful,
Remain humble, hard working and helpful.
In love for one and all-bountiful.

On difficult days, make me more patient,
Help me see and accept life’s salient.

On good days-may I remain composed and calm,
Reminded of your macro blessings as a soothing balm.

Grant me wisdom, courage and discretion,
Let my words and actions be governed by concern and affection.

Life will have all season,
Acceptance without reason,
All troubles, travails and treason,
Can teach precious and everlasting lesson.

I can control only my own action,
No one else’s response or reaction,
I cannot force repulsion or attraction,
Take me away from seeking causation.

Life’s on a Lease

As humans, we are tuned to be restless,
Momentarily grateful, but mostly thankless.
Holding on to myths and beliefs that are baseless.
Falling prey to harmful anxiety and stress that is faceless.

Its human nature to aim higher than before,
Since status quo can quickly bore.
Partaking in a perpetual race is in our core.
Reaching and looking for more is our life’s lore.

Seeking is good, helps us explore,
Thinking about new ways and ideas to soar.
Our faculties are to be used, not store.
Many issues need our energies to pore.

But endless desires can tire,
Halting is essential to rekindle the fire.
Reflecting on personal purpose helps rejuvenate,
Persist and participate or pivot and re evaluate.

Its vital to deliberately stop and cease,
Give our hearts and minds some needed ease,
Prevent our bodies to be burdened with burnout and disease,
Life after all is on a lease.
